spelling test

Koby brought home his very first list of spelling words yesterday. His list contains six words:

I
you
no
the
to
and

Each week he must also choose a bonus word to study. This week he chose "brother".

So today, after we worked on his reading assignment, I asked him to get a pencil and paper so that he could practice his words. As I read each word to him, I used it in a sentence. For example, "You are in a very bad mood.", "I went to the store." After a couple of sentences, he protested.

"You just need to say the word! Not a sentence!"
"Doesn't Mrs. VanderLaan give you a sentence with each word?" I asked
"UGH!!!!" he replied
"Koby, remember that I use to be a teacher. I am not stupid."

"That might be the old school stuff, but that's NOT what my teacher does!"

....and it is only Tuesday :)
