white pine trail

Today we decided to go on an adventure and ride our bikes on the White Pine Trail from Belmont to Rockford. It is a 4 mile journey, one way. So for a five year old, this was indeed an adventure. We ate a picnic lunch at the Rogue River Park near some very large boulders, which the boys thought were very cool. After lunch, I took the car up to Rockford and hitched a ride back to the park to meet the boys. We figured 4 miles was probably plenty for our first trip. So we mounted our bikes and had not even crossed over the parking lot when we hear, "Miss...Miss" One of the Trail Patrol men was getting ready to head on the trail when he noticed I had a bit of a flat rear tire. He was so kind to pump it up for me so I wouldn't have to struggle with a flat tire plus a 30 plus pound two year old attached to the rear of my bike. How generous! So off we went. The White Pine Trail is part to the rails to trails system that runs from GR all the way up to Cadillac. It is paved and filled with nautural beauty. We had such a great time. We arrived in Rockford about 30 minutes later, no tears, no injuries, no complaining! WOW!!!! We loaded our bikes up and then went on a walk through downtown Rockford. We stopped at the dam, a toy store and Rocky's for some ice cream.

We stopped by the campground on our way home to do a little fishing while Ky took a little snooze in Papa Briggs' trailer. Unfortunately, no big ones today. However, Koby and Kev did manage to score quite a few little guys.

It was such a perfect day and a perfect end to summer! What?? End of summer?? It's officially official....Koby's first day of Kindergarten is tomorrow. More on that later......
